Broke? Get Paid More with a Higher Degree

Yep, it’s proven. In the US, people earn more money when they have a higher degree. In this cruddy economy, you now need a bachelor’s degree just to be a busboy at some places. And there can be a difference of at least $10,000 just if you have a master’s degree as opposed to a bachelor’s.

And it’s no wonder online degrees have become so popular. Now, you don’t have to quit your job to go to school full-time or settle for teaching a freshman composition course to help pay for your beans and rice. You actually have a choice to keep your job and still advance your educational degree. You can even get a tradesman certificate online. Amazing.

Plus, as a holder of a master’s degree myself, I must admit that I comprehend the bigger picture of business. I’ve surpassed that idea of going to work and just doing what’s required of me. I see that my job and my daily work load is part of a bigger movement to help the company run well and (don’t laugh) ultimately help the world to be a better place. I even have the CFO stopping me in the hall to chit chat about my opinions of the future of the company.

So, darn it, you read this blog because you obviously have an interest in higher education. If you haven’t already pursued a higher degree, I encourage you to consider getting back out there. It pays off financially and professionally. And, hey, even if you can’t commit to a whole other degree - we’re all life-long learners, right? Take a class or two! Okay, off my soap box now.
