Walden University Hosts "The Future of Communication"

Walden University's College of Management and Technology celebrated its new B.S. in Communication program by presenting the webinar "The Future of Communications."

The range of topics included corporate communications, Web 2.0, and public relations. This free, public webinar was led by experts from these fields.

Walden University Keys to Success

The online forum explored the skills students and professionals will need to succeed in the today's global information society.

"Walden was delighted to present this online event focusing on the skills required to succeed in today's business environment, on both the corporate and agency sides," said Dr. Wanda Gravett, associate dean of Walden's School of Management. "The role of communication is highly underestimated in terms of the influence it has in business, and our experts will bring this to light during their discussion."

Gravett added, "Our expert guests will also delve into new skills essential for future success--including effective use of Web 2.0, blogs, and social networking--and present examples of successful PR and corporate communications efforts."

Students at all levels as well as members of the public benefit from regularly scheduled online seminars such as this, which bring experts together to discuss relevant topics.

Communication Leaders Speak at Walden

"The Future of Communications" event provided a platform for thought leaders of the communications community:

  • Courtney M. Barnes, co-founder and principal member of Think Communications
  • Mike McDougall, APR, vice president of corporate communications and public affairs for Bausch & Lomb
  • Irene Monley, ABC, responsible for global human resources communications at Tyco Electronics
  • Dr. Henry Brashen, the founder of Clear and Effective Communications

The new B.S. in Communication at Walden University includes six concentrations to address the various needs of businesses: Marketing Communications, New Media, Online Work and Communities, Organizational Communication, Public Relations, and a Self-Designed option.
