Dr. Tracy Marsh

Psychology instructor Dr. Tracy Marsh was recently honored with Walden University's Presidential Award for Faculty Excellence. Her contribution to research, education, and the psychology world earned her the honors.

Associate Dean Nina Nabors had glowing praise for Dr. Marsh in her recommendation: "Dr. Marsh promotes positive social change through her teaching, mentoring, research, leadership and attitude," she wrote. "She is a great asset to the School of Psychology."

A Strong Educational Background

Dr. Marsh earned her PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Southern California, and completed her undergraduate study at the University of California Santa Cruz. At Walden University, she teaches courses in social change, psychological foundations, practicum and internship. She also coordinates the field placement program for the Counseling Psychology specialization.

A strong foundation of research is an underlying force in the success of the faculty at Walden University. Dr. Marsh's research includes topics on adult learning, distance learning, sexual / gender identity development and sexual harassment. "She works tirelessly to support students in their practicum and internships," notes Dean Nabors, who added, "[She] is highly sought after by students during the residencies and consistently receives positive evaluations."

Real-World Experience and Educational Excellence

In addition to her work on the faculty of Walden University, Dr. Marsh has provided psychological assessment services in the state of California. Her work with these clients proves her continued commitment to psychology. She teaches seminars on counseling skills, including specific strategies for counseling gay men, lesbians, bisexual, and transgender clients.

Before her current position, Dr. Marsh served as Executive Director of Product Development for Laureate Education. Her strong educational background and sense of community and shared achievement made Dr. Marsh an excellent candidate for the Presidential Award. She continues to use her knowledge and background to support and serve Walden University students.
