The Utah College of Massage Therapy Family of Massage Schools is a group of massage schools with various campuses. The Utah College of Massage Therapy, a member school, offers certificate programs in professional massage therapy, advanced bodywork, and esthetics. All of these programs combine lectures and teaching with hands-on, practical experience. Classes are offered both during the day and the evening.
Professional Massage Therapy Program
Massage therapists are considered healthcare practitioners. As such, in the professional massage therapy program you learn anatomy, physiology, pathology, and CPR and basic first aid skills. The program teaches you a wide variety of massage techniques, including Eastern and Western practices, as well as sports massage techniques. The Utah College of Massage Therapy includes classes in business management and professional development as part of the program so you are prepared to start your own business or manage a spa.
Students enrolled in the Utah College of Massage Therapy's professional massage programs can finish in as little as 7 months if they attend school full time. Part-time students can earn their certificate in 12 months.
Master Bodyworker Program
This program is open only to graduates of the Utah School of Massage Family of Massage Schools who have completed the professional massage therapy program. This full-time program is 10-weeks long. The master bodyworker program expands on skills form the professional massage therapy program, including more advanced methods and treatments. You learn techniques such as spa hydrotherapy, sports injury treatment, rehabilitation work, and myokinetic techniques, among other subjects. The master bodyworker program allows you to practice massage in a wider variety of settings and offer an increased range of services to your clients.
The Professional Esthetics Program
In this program, you gain hands-on experience along with theoretical knowledge in esthetics treatments, including facials, makeup application, hair removal, aromatherapy, and various other body treatments. The program emphasizes the science of skincare as well as providing a strong foundation in business. The program also covers laws and regulations governing esthetics.
The Master Esthetics Program
The Utah School of Massage offers the master esthetics program for students who have already completed the professional esthetics program. This program trains you in more advanced techniques, from microdermabrasion and chemical peels to current cosmetic chemistry. You also learn advanced body wrap techniques, camouflage makeup techniques, hydrotherapy, and more.
Graduates of this program are eligible to take the Master Esthetician licensing exam in Utah. Graduates of the program can work in high-end spas alongside plastic surgeons, as well as in resort and day spas.
