The Hair Design School

Founded in 1972, The Hair Design School is operated under the auspices of the Empire Education Group, which has been offering cosmetology programs for 70 years. The Empire Education Group maintains over 80 schools and is the largest network of such schools in North America. The school boasts programs that prepare students for more than 16 potential careers in the beauty industry. The Hair Design School, an Empire Beauty School, maintains campuses at a number of locations in Kentucky.

The school's instructors are all licensed to practice in the industry and are trained and certified to teach cosmetology. The Cosmetology Program

Full-time and part-time programs in cosmetology are available, with daytime, evening, and weekend classes to accommodate your schedule. The program consists of 1800 hours of course work, while the educator training program requires 1000 hours of course work.

When you successfully complete the program, you are eligible to take the state board examination. At the end of your studies, the school provides you with a sample board examination to prepare you for the Kentucky Board of Registration in Cosmetology exam. This Board provides your licensure to practice as a professional cosmetologist.

Courses at The Hair Design School include cutting and styling techniques, coloring techniques, skin care, nail care, and makeup application. Instruction in business, communications, and retail sales is also included so that you can apply your cosmetology skills to a successful career.

A student salon helps you put your classroom study to practical use on paying customers from the community. The salon is supervised by the faculty, of course, and students are allowed to work with customers only after taking a certain number of courses. The experience you gain in the salon will help you gain confidence and build a clientele in a supportive, instructional environment.

Financial aid is available for eligible students, including grants, loans, and scholarships. For admission to the school, you must be at least 16 years old and must show proof of a high school diploma or equivalency.

The Hair Design School is committed to helping all students find a job after graduation and become licensed. As a student, you receive a Professional Student Kit, which contains all of the up-to-date tools you need to work on real customers when you begin working as a cosmetologist. These items include shears, brushes, irons, clippers, and mannequins.

One of the most unique aspects of studying at The Hair Design School is a national competition and show that allows students to network with employers and learn from other students across the country while competing with one another. Winners of this competition could end up working in Hollywood or other prestigious jobs around the world.
