Computer Studies Degree
Online Degrees in Computer Studies
The degree choices in computer studies are diverse and can all be completed online. An online associate's degree (AAS) in computer studies will teach you basic computer foundations, including software applications, database management, and maintenance. While the completion of an AAS makes you eligible for jobs in the industry, it can also be used as a step toward your bachelor's degree (BAS) in computer studies.
In your online BAS program in computer studies you will enhance skills you learned through your AAS, as well as pick up new ones. And with a higher degree, you will increase your chances of capturing a great job in the field--including database manager, systems administrator, and information systems manager. For management positions, a bachelor's degree is usually a minimum requirement, with a strong preference for those with a master's degree. In an online computer studies master's program, you will learn such foundations as computing, economics, and object-oriented programming.
The U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) projects an 18 to 26 percent higher demand for information systems managers between 2004 and 2014. The 2004 median annual salary of these managers was nearly $93,000. While the completion of an educational program can not guarantee this salary, a degree in a computer studies program is typically a requirement to enter the field.
