Online Computer Programming Degree Programs

Computer Programming is a hot field for individuals who have enough education. However, Computer Programmers are facing increasing competition. A two-year degree or certificate may qualify you for an entry-level position, but in 2004, more than two-thirds of computer programmers had a bachelor degree or higher. If you'd like to enter the field of Computer Programming, or increase your opportunities for advancement, now's the time to think about an online degree in Computer Programming.

Online degree programs in computer programming include a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Science/ Programming, a BS in Information Technology, and a Master of Science in Information Technology or System Design and Programming. At the associate level, look for an AS in Computer Information Science/ Programming, or an Associate of Applied Science in Computer Programming with or without a Java Option. These degree programs offer diverse coursework with some overlap. You'll likely take courses in Visual Basic and Advanced Visual Basic, Structured Query Language, and Object-Oriented Programming.

Although no degree can guarantee a future salary, it might encourage you to know that in May 2004 the median annual earnings of computer programmers reached $62,890. And in 2005, a computer programmer's average starting salary came in at an impressive $50,820 a year.

"Nothing separates the generations more than music.
By the time a child is eight or nine, he has developed a passion for his own music that is even stronger than his passions for procrastination and weird clothes."

-- Bill Cosby
