In existence for more than 50 years, Southern Technical College maintains several locations in Florida. The college's professional instructors have had successful careers in their fields, outside of the college atmosphere, allowing them to bring their students a practical understanding of their professions. Southern Technical College provides training for students who are changing careers, as well as those who want to update their skills in their chosen field.
Southern Technical College is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools, an agency recognized by the United States Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. Southern Technical College is also a member of the Florida Association of Postsecondary Schools and Colleges. The college is growing and has recently added a new campus.
The Southern Technical College Experience
Southern Technical College prides itself on maintaining a balance between practical training and classroom instruction. The various curricula include intensive technical training with courses that also enhance a student's communication and interpersonal skills. The goal of each program is to prepare you to go directly into a job and know how to successfully and enthusiastically perform the functions, with minimal on-the-job training.
Southern Technical College is in the process of creating an online component to add to its educational offerings. As a student using online study features, you will have the option of taking some classes on campus and some classes online, or taking all of your courses online. This will allow students all over the country to benefit from Southern Technical College's comprehensive, high quality programs to work toward a diploma or degree.
Prior to being accepted at Southern Technical College, you must be interviewed and take an entrance evaluation. Both diploma and degree programs are offered. Some of the diploma programs can be completed in as few as nine months, while the associate degree programs usually require a longer period of study.
Financial Aid at Southern Technical College
The college maintains a Financial Aid Department for students needing financial assistance to pay for their program tuition. Professional staff members help you find the right plan and properly complete the applications. Possible financial aid sources include scholarships, as well as Federal Pell Grants, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (FSEOG), Subsidized and Unsubsidized Federal Stafford Loans, Federal PLUS Loans, and private alternative loan programs.
When you visit the Financial Aid Department office, whether you are a current student or a prospective student, you are given several forms to fill out, including an application for federal aid. Every student receives a personalized consultation regarding their specific financial needs.

When you graduate from Southern Technical College, you are provided with individualized career advice to assist you in finding employment in your field. While the college does not guarantee employment after graduation, it has an excellent record of placing graduates in jobs. In a further effort to help its students enter the work force in their chosen careers, Southern Technical College maintains a membership in the Central Florida Employment Council.
Because of the college's close relationship with the Employment Council and various employers in the community, diploma and degree programs are geared toward what employers look for in new employees. Today, employers require more than just technical skills, so Southern Technical College's goal is to produce well-rounded graduates who have the ability to be dependable, communicate well, and work well with others. Graduates have the technical competence and the personal confidence to succeed.
