The Refrigeration School History

Founded in 1965, The Refrigeration School was created to meet the growing need for air conditioning and refrigeration technicians with high quality education and training. Since its beginning, RSI has grown and developed a reputation for providing the best possible service and training for students. This has led the college to becoming one of the country's leading providers of HVAC/R technicians.

Acceptance by both the Arizona Department of Veterans Services and the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of technology were critical factors in the growth of The Refrigeration School. RSI has graduates working in over 35 states and in several other countries.

The Refrigeration School Campus and Faculty

The Refrigeration School campus includes two buildings containing 21,000 square feet of classrooms, lab and service facilities, and an outdoor shop area of 5,400 square feet.

The Refrigeration School is family owned and operated. With more than 40 years of experience in training technicians, the family is thoroughly involved with and available to students each day. All of the employees who work at RSI know that the more successful the students are, the better the school's reputation. Students have the assistance and support of the faculty at RSI both while enrolled as a student and after graduation.

The Refrigeration School Hands-on Training

The Refrigeration School believes that students learn more from working with their hands than they do by listening to lectures or memorizing text. Therefore, the college provides a combination of classroom time and hands-on training.

Classroom instruction helps students learn theory, basic principles, and safety procedures. Shop time lets them apply that knowledge and practice techniques. The result is a graduate who understands how and why something works, and has enough practical training to analyze and solve each problem presented. The Refrigeration School uses the E-Star diagnostic system to provide further opportunities to practice procedures and troubleshoot solutions. Classes include: Refrigeration AC and Heating, Electrical Technologies, Electro-Mechanical Tech, and Mechanical Maintenance.
