Degree Programs at Platt College
Platt College offers certificates, diplomas, and undergraduate degrees in career-oriented fields such as graphic design and medical assisting. The training you receive at Platt College is designed to help you grow both as a professional and as an individual, allowing you to gain marketable skills in a field you are passionate about.
Graphic Design. Platt College offers degrees and diplomas in graphic design. The diploma program consists of nine core courses covering topics like design and color theory, publishing, and digital media. Students graduating from this program must also present a professional portfolio to a committee of faculty members. The associate's degree program involves 10 core courses in graphic design as well as a selection of general education requirements.
Medical Careers. Platt College offers three associate's degree programs in the medical field. The program in medical assisting prepares you for work in a medical office, with coursework that includes both laboratory procedures and work in anatomy and physiology as well as an introduction to medical billing and coding. The degree program for aspiring medical administrative specialists focuses more on the business side of healthcare, with courses in medical transcription and terminology, office procedures, and bookkeeping. The program in diagnostic medical sonography trains you to analyze medical images, preparing you for work in this growing medical field.
Legal Studies. The paralegal studies program offers both an associate's and a bachelor's degree that prepare you for work in a law office or court system, assisting attorneys with drafting legal documents, researching facts, and preparing for court cases. Platt College is also offering a new program which allows you to earn an associate's degree in criminal justice. A degree in criminal justice trains you for work in fields like law enforcement, court administration, victim services, or departments of correction.
Visual Communications. Platt College offers two specialties within its visual communication degree programs: 3D animation/video specialization and interactive/Web specialization. Both specializations are designed with the job market in mind, providing you with the necessary skills to find employment in fields like graphic design, Web programmer, 3D animator, or 3D lighting specialist. The visual communication department also offers a certificate in multimedia that teaches students how to synthesize various types of media, including text, photos, sound, graphics, and video. You learn about software relevant to the field, terminology, Web page design, and video production. This program requires an associate's degree in graphic design for admission.
