Online Master's Degrees in Manufacturing

Since there has traditionally been no educational process for manufacturing managers, a master's degree in manufacturing can put you ahead of the pack when applying for jobs. If you choose to pursue your degree online, you can even continue your current job while studying for your degree at home.

Manufacturing managers ensure that quality goods are produced in a timely fashion. They oversee the entire industrial production process, which includes choosing the proper machinery and materials, orchestrating the sequence of production and hiring and scheduling workers. Managers also look to increase production efficiency by diversifying the skills of employees. They implement quality control programs to monitor and guarantee the quality of their products. They must also keep current with technological advances in their field.

Coursework in a master's program in manufacturing includes the study of business administration and management as well as industrial engineering techniques. The focus of these programs is to learn to maximize production efficiency while maintaining a high level of quality.

Although jobs in manufacturing management are growing at a slower rate than the national average, the median salary is over $73,000 per year.
