Human resources, training, and labor relations managers and specialists: This is another area that may offer job security, because it's one in which the BLS is expecting "much faster than average" employment growth through 2018.
- In May 2009, HR compensation and benefits managers earned median salaries of $88,050, while training and development managers earned $88,090.
Property, real estate and community association managers: The BLS reports, "Opportunities should be best for those with college degrees in business administration, real estate, or related fields and for those with professional designations." Forty-six percent of those in these fields are self-employed.
- In May 2009, property, real estate, and community association managers on salaries had a median income of $48,460. This salary fluctuates with the health of the housing market.
