Online Associate Degrees in Engineering

An online associate degree in Engineering can be the first step into the fast-paced field of technology research and development. Graduates go on to careers such as engineering technicians, drafters, product designers, project engineers, engineering research associates, or production supervisors. The National Association of Colleges and Employers lists associate degrees in engineering among the top three majors most in demand. Engineering/surveying firms top the list of employers most interested in associate degree holders.

An online associate degree in Engineering offers both a solid foundation in science and mathematics and specialized engineering instruction. Coursework covers mechanics, electricity and magnetism, modern physics, waves and light, industrial systems, pulse and logic circuits, as well as calculus and differential equations. By the end of the two-year program, students will be prepared to take a design from the drawing board to the production line.

Career opportunities are strong in engineering, with particular growth in the biomedical and environmental specialties. Engineering graduates have some of the highest incomes of all associate degree holders, with an average starting salary of $28,798, and those who go on to bachelor degree programs can increase their earning power even more. A degree is no guarantee of job or earning potential, but education is a major factor in engineering career prospects.
