North Pole Solo Sponsors

Each of the Sponsors supporting Wave's North Pole Solo expedition has been chosen for particular reasons. Generally, each of these Sponsors represents the best manufacturer, and/or service provider in its respective field.

World Wide Learn The World's Largest Directory of Online Education, is the key sponsor of the WorldWideLearn.com North Pole Solo 2004 Expedition.

Adobe Inc. Makers of the leading web design and video editing software, Adobe has donated essential software.

Automated Media Systems is supplying advanced and specially-made power recharging system and batteries for the expedition. AMS batteries are used on most major expeditions, including IMAX on Everest.

Black Diamond is providing telemark skis, skins, and other associated equipment. As well, they are supplying ice screws.

Big Fun Designs Once Wave announced that he was planning an expedition to the North Pole, Big Fun Designs asked to do the design and be the developer of the website. Knowing that Wave's expedition would garner a lot of publicity, it was an easy choice for BFD to jump right in. And the partnership has been good, in the first month of the new site, there were over 33,000 visitors and two Gold web design awards won.

BWI Investments was the first supporter of Wave's expedition providing financial and moral support.

Cascade Designs The parent company of MSR. When contacted for Sponsorship, their deadlines had already passed. They were excited about the opportunity to be a Sponsor of the expedition, and accepted Wave's proposal to be involved. They are supplying next-to-skin and insulating layers, gloves, hats, and caps.

City Beach is where Wave will be conducting some of his in-town training. They offer two locations where you can rock climb, do aerobic training and other activities. They are excited to be involved, and have become a strong supporter of the expedition with promotion, events, and partnering with their Experiential Learning Courses and other programs that fit with the overall objectives of Wave's expedition.

Dave Mills is a hearty polar explorer. He tried twice, very hard, to reach the North Pole from the Canadian side. Both times he was thwarted by bad ice conditions and excessive flow and had to be rescued from the ice. He supports Wave's expedition with advice, expertise, and the use of images for promotion and presentations.

Digital Magic Signs specialize in printed decals and graphics for cars, vans, and buses. Once they learned how their graphics would be used for to cover an SUV to be donated by a dealer for Wave's use during training for his expedition, they eagerly asked to be a Sponsor. They will provide the graphics and installation on the expedition SUV.

Dr. Richard Lee, MD is another cold-weather expert and has been the expedition doctor on several Everest expeditions. He'll work in conjunction with Dr. Stinson to watch over Wave during his training and expedition, and provide medical advice while on the expedition should the need arise.

Dr. Mark Stinson, MD Wave searched long and hard for an experienced cold-weather doctor to help advise concerning medical expertise of the expedition. Dr. Stinson was eager to be involved.

Explorersweb is just one of the websites owned by the famous husband and wife expeditioners Tom + Tina Sjorgen (known as T+T). They have become Sponsors of Wave's expedition with expertise, advice, referrals to other explorers and sources of equipment, their Contact expedition software, and use of images for presentations and promotion.

JVC will provide digital video camcorders for Wave's bid for the North Pole. Wave chose their new HD camera for its lightweight, and innovative capability to record high definition video onto an inexpensive MiniDV cassette. He'll also bring with him the smallest and lightest digital video camera in the world, again made by JVC.

Life-Link is supplying a Lexan snowshovel, durable in low temperatures, and strong, adjustable ski poles.

MSR Known for making the best stoves in the world, this was one company that Wave contacted first to be involved. Not only did MSR become a Sponsor, they awarded Wave's expedition the "Platypus Adventure Award". MSR has become an even greater partner, by allowing Wave to design his own arctic tent, which MSR will custom manufacture just for his use.

Nalgene Makers of Lexan bottles, these bottles are used for water and beverages, and hold up to the severe conditions of the Arctic region.

Nike is providing equipment for training. Shoes, sunglasses, jackets, and training watches. Nike ACG (All Conditions Gear), North Pole Solo is very proud to include Nike as one of the many top-notch companies helping support the expedition.

Nikon Produces some of the finest cameras in the world. Chosen by most working professionals, Nikon digital cameras will be the camera of choice for this expedition.

Outdoor Research Another Seattle company, Outdoor Research is supporting North Pole Solo with their clothing and other equipment.

Pinnacle Systems Inc. The leader in their field of digital video editing equipment and solutions, Pinnacle is providing equipment, software, use of high-definition video editing facilities, and financial support.

PrincetonTec Manufactures high-tech lighting for outdoor users. PrincetonTec is providing headlamps and other lights for training and the expedition. For the first two weeks of the expedition there will be only several hours of light each day. Wave will rely entirely on PrincetonTec's products to light the way.

Richmoor/Naturally High Foods Wave researched all of the backpacking freeze-dried foods companies and then contacted Richmoor. They make a diverse menu, which will be essential to the well-being and mental state of Wave during his two months on the Arctic ice.

Smith Sport Optics Wave chose Smith because of their quality and diverse product line. They'll be the sunglasses and goggles Wave wears during the expedition and training leading up to the expedition.

Studio X Arts & Science is Wave's own company and supports the expedition in several ways; through equipment design and modification, promotion, and other functions as needed.

Thorlos Wave researched all available sock companies, and chose Thorlos. They too were eager to participate and are supplying the various kinds of socks needed for training and the expedition.

TUBBS Snowshoes is providing the expedition with snowshoes, that will be used during training.

Tyr Swimwear

24 Hour Fitness has given Wave an all-club membership so that he can weight train and swim in preparation for the expedition.

USIA is manufacturing a custom 'dry suit' for when Wave will be swimming while on his expedition. This suit will keep Wave dry as he swims in the freezing arctic ocean.

World Communication Center is providing Wave with satellite phone/pager, and service. This is a key sponsor, as Wave will be able to make/receive phone calls, send/receive emails, graphics, and even short video clips.

Zing Public Relations After researching all PR firms in California, Wave selected Zing Public Relations due to the principal's expertise, and like-minded determination to take on a physical challenge. Zing Public Relations is orchestrating publicity prior to and during the expedition.
