The First American Solo
Unsupported Expedition to the North Pole

Wave Vidmar

Wave Vidmar
1st American to attempt a solo unsupported expedition to the North Pole

pixel.gif The Goal
In February 2004 Wave Vidmar leaves his hometown of Oakland, California (right across the bay from San Francisco) and sets off for Russia to begin his solo journey to the geographic North Pole. Leaving from upper Russia, the Artichevsky peninsula, Wave will walk, ski, and swim nearly 600 miles to the North Pole.

Dragging a sledge (pulk) weighing more than 275 lbs Wave will take with him everything he needs to accomplish his goal through the harshest environment on earth. When asked why he would do such a thing he states "to feed my soul".

Making History
Wave will walk into history as the first American to ever attempt such a trek. The expedition will take approximately 60 days across the frozen Arctic sea ice.

Future Expeditions
Future expeditions include: solo and unsupported to the South Pole and rowing across the Atlantic Ocean solo (W-E).
