Pen Pals

Learn from others all over the world!

It may seem old fashioned, but there are people around the world who still write letters! Some even use a pen and paper. E-mail has made it easier than ever to write letters, and there is somebody who would like to correspond with you!

"How does being a pen pal help me learn?"

Lots of ways! People have different experiences to share, and you'll learn from reading about them. You might find a pen pal who is specifically interested in the same things as you, and share notes and ideas. You might even find an online study partner.

Pen pals can be on the other side of the world or just down the street. The Japanese are especially interested - you can learn from them about geography, geology, anthropology.

You can find pen pals all over the Internet*. While the "groups" and "personals" sections of AOL or Yahoo! might be great, don't forget to look at the "bulletin boards" on sites that specifically interest you. Post your thoughts, and see who replies. Eventually you might have online pen pals with whom you learn a lot.

*Always use caution if you choose to actually meet someone in person whom you "know" from the Internet. Meet in a public place, and make sure a friend knows where you're going and when you'll be back.
