The NewSchool of Architecture and Design: A History of Excellence
Founded in 1980 by the late Richard Welsh, the NewSchool of Architecture and Design has been focused on academic excellence from the start. When it began, the NewSchool of Architecture and Design offered only one bachelor's degree program. As the college expanded throughout the years, it began to offer new specialties as well as master's degree programs.
From its start, the NewSchool of Architecture and Design was intended to meet the needs of non-traditional students. Many adults wishing to change careers were attracted to the design field, but work requirements prevented them from pursuing a traditional degree program. The NewSchool of Architecture and Design met the needs of their students by offering flexible evening class schedules. The college continues this tradition today for all its degree programs.
