What Our Students Say...
Barbara J. Ferry
Major: BS Business Administration
I am a 41-year-old single female. I currently am employed full-time as a Junior Staff Accountant at a local residential facility for people with mental illness. I have been with the agency for three years. Previously, I held a variety of positions during my 11 1/2 year tenure at Goodwill Industries of Broward County, Inc. I have been employed part-time as an independent home delivery newspaper carrier for the Sun-Sentinel since July 5, 2000 as well.
I began taking classes with Everglades in August 2000 in order to complete my Bachelors degree in Business Administration. I needed 21 classes to finish and am now approximately half way there!
Most of the classes I have taken have been through the distance-learning program. I learn quickly and prefer to work on my own. I also find that I am better able to fit school into my schedule this way and still have time for everything that I need to accomplish. Compared to my prior college experience, I have discovered that the accelerated program is much more conducive to learning. I am able to concentrate on one subject at a time and then move onto the next. I feel I am better able to retain material this way as opposed to trying to learn three or four subjects at the same time. I believe that if the option of an accelerated distance-learning program had been available twenty years ago I would have finished my degree the first time around.
I chose Everglades University over other distance-learning programs because I preferred the family atmosphere the university projects. I didn't want to be just another number, which is what happens at the larger schools. I like the personal approach which makes the learning experience much more comfortable. I would strongly recommend Everglades University over any other school.

Major: BS Aviation Management
My experience at Everglades University has fostered a feeling of sincerity and respect. Respect for the professors as well as the other staff members. From the beginning, the staff of American Flyers College, now Everglades University, has been very helpful in helping me attain my educational goals. As a new 4-year university, they have tried their best to accommodate my personal needs as well as my professional needs. From helping me with financial aid issues, to just having a group of sincere individuals that care about their students so intimately, was quite astounding. I was not treated as a number, but as a person. My experience at Everglades University has also been met with people that I not only call my instructors but also my friends. The open door policy of the president as well as the faculty has lend way to facilitate a sense of caring and assurance that issues can and will be dealt with in a matter of utmost concern. I really do appreciate the help that I have gotten along the way, and hope that this will continue in the distant future.
Sincerely,
Kirk M. Webster
