Online Engineering Degrees
Almost all engineering professionals begin by earning a bachelor's degree in general engineering. However, there are also online associate's degrees available for those who want to explore the field before taking on a larger educational commitment.

Online engineering programs provide flexibility as well as career training for this high-demand field. According to the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), starting salaries for engineers are "significantly higher" than entry-level wages in other professions.

The engineering field is diverse. Online master's and PhD degree programs are available for professionals seeking advanced training in specializations such as petroleum engineering, manufacturing systems, semiconductor and nuclear engineering, astronautics, materials design, industrial product development, environmental management, and more.

Michigan Technological University
Michigan Tech's Department of Engineering offers a Bachelor of Science in Engineering via distance learning. The curriculum for the BSE program emphasizes design and a strong computer experience. The program is designed to provide a sound foundation in mathematics, basic sciences, engineering science and design, communications, humanities, and social sciences, with an emphasis in the option area (mechanical design or manufacturing) in the senior year. The BSE degree program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). MTU is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

Oregon State University
Oregon State University offers the following engineering degrees online:

Stanford Center for Professional Development
The Stanford Center for Professional Development (SCPD) offers Academic Courses from the School of Engineering and affiliated departments to professionals in industry. The Stanford Center for Professional Development utilizes web-based courses, two-way video, live and videotaped broadcasts to deliver its graduate degrees, certificate programs, and individual courses. The Honors Cooperative Program (HCP) is the only part-time graduate program offered by Stanford University. It allows working professionals an opportunity to earn a graduate engineering degree through SCPD while maintaining employment. HCP students apply to the department in which they would like to pursue a graduate degree through the normal graduate admissions process, and compete with all other applicants for admission to the program. Accredited by the Western Association of Colleges and Schools.

University of Arizona Extended University
Arizona's three state universities, Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University, and University of Arizona, cooperatively offer their courses online through the Arizona Master of Engineering program. As a Master of Engineering student, you can either choose a traditional area of study, a non-traditional area of study or, working closely with your advisory committee, you may develop a unique program of study that meets your specific educational goals. University of Idaho
