Credits & Transferring Universities: Canada
By Melody GoughQuestion
I am about to immigrate to Canada and I want to continue attending a university and working. I'd like to know how to prepare so I can do these things with relative ease.
Answer
You didn't mention when you plan to move, but moving, especially to another country, is a large undertaking. Don't waste any time. Set the process in motion for this big change in your life. Find out what's entailed if you do desire to gain Canadian citizenship. Much of what you accomplish next as far as financing your continuing education depends on getting your permanent residency. What documentation will you need? How much time does the process take? Ask the questions and fill out the paperwork.
Where are you going to live? What schools are nearby? Make sure you find an accredited campus. Contact someone at the school or schools you are most interested in attending and start a dialogue. See if you can send them transcripts of classes you've completed at other institutions. Schools do not have to accept classes from any other university or community college. This process is unique to each and every school as to what classes, if any, they may accept toward their own degree programs. You have a great deal to take care of before your move. You have much to do so get started laying the foundation to set this adventure in motion.
