Answer
It is great to hear you are on your way to possibly earning a degree in psychology and behavioral science. The kind of job you obtain in the field will be dependent upon the level of psychology degree that you earn. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, psychologist jobs are expected to grow by 12 percent, and social and human service assistant jobs are expected to grow by 23 percent between 2008-2018.
Typically a 60-hour associate's degree takes two years to complete; however, there are even accelerated online degree programs that will get you to the finish line quicker. You can expect your associate's degree program to consist of a combination of three different types of courses: general education courses, electives that you choose, and courses that are required your major.
In order to earn a bachelor's degree, you must obtain around 120 credits total. The good news is that most schools will allow you to transfer the 60 credits earned from an associate's degree program from a community college. If you are able to transfer all 60 credits, it should only take another two years to complete your bachelor's degree in psychology and behavioral science. When you look into school and program options for your bachelor's degree, be sure to find out about each school's credit-transferring policies.
Good luck as you pursue your degrees in psychology and behavioral science!
