Bring on the Spicy Jobs: Specialty Catering
If you love cooking, why not capitalize on it? Taking culinary classes can teach you some fine culinary techniques, whether you want to brush up on your puff pastries or salmon mousse. Catering classes can teach you the ins and outs of the catering world: special events and menu planning, setting a fine table and food safety and handling.
Cooking with Class: Try Catering School
Once you've taken your catering classes and are ready to make a career out of catering, there's no reason not to have as much fun as you can and cook the things you love. There are caterers who specialize in down-home cooking, those who specialize in catering tailgate parties or weddings, baby showers, or corporate events. And there are those who specialize in certain types of food, whether it's an ethnic slant or the most elegant settings and foods... or barbecue.
Imagine having your own barbecue catering service. You'd be very popular! Catering jobs might range from bachelor's parties to school functions, and corporate events might find it a nice change from chicken or Chinese food. You could indulge your passion for spicy foods and find the perfect side dishes, from coleslaw to cookies. And why not choose the ideal beverages to go with your barbecue too.
Catering to Your Own Taste
One thing that's certain, you'd need to find the perfect barbecue recipes. One all-purpose barbecue sauce that can be used on chicken, beef, pork, or ribs (of course) is as follows:
1/4 cup chopped onion
1 clove garlic, finely chopped
2 tbsp butter
1 cup ketchup
1/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 cup lemon juice
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 chicken bouillon cubes
1 tsp prepared mustard
In a small saucepan, cook the onion and garlic in butter until tender. Add the remaining ingredients and bring the sauce to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 20 minutes.
Combining your love of cooking with some on-target catering classes could prepare you for a career you--and your happy clients--will love.
