Permanent Cosmetic Sanitation Training in Cosmetology School
Sanitation is a Key Component in Becoming a Successful Permanent Cosmetics Professional
If you are a student in cosmetology school and hope to one day become licensed as a permanent cosmetics professional, knowing appropriate and legal sanitation requirements should be at the top of your to-do list. Cosmetology courses discuss many of the sanitation requirements for today's permanent makeup professional.
Post Cosmetology School: State Board Exams
The board exams in most states have both a written and a practical portion, and sanitation is a large part of each. In your permanent makeup training, make sure you are sanitizing all of your implements completely and correctly, taking every precaution to avoid spreading bacteria or disease. This is something that you are graded on in detail during the state board exams, with proctors carefully scrutinizing your techniques and tool usage. If you do not spend enough time learning and practicing sanitation techniques, the exams may be more difficult to pass.
Cosmetology School Lesson: Sanitation for the Permanent Cosmetics Career
Licensed beauty professionals practicing permanent cosmetics must be especially concerned with sanitation because of the distinct implications and standards for safe cosmetic ink application. Permanent eye liner, permanent lip liner, and permanent brows are tattoos, so they do draw blood to the surface of the skin. This risks serious spread of disease and bacteria, which is why sanitation is so crucial in this environment.
Make sure that all implements are sanitized well between each use. In addition, if a tool is dropped on the ground or touches anything other than the client or sanitized implement station, it must be disinfected again before use. This is the best way to protect yourself and your client, and it also keeps your license from being revoked if the state board ever visits your facility.
In cosmetology school you should also learn to use the proper disinfectant solutions, preferably hospital-grade sanitizers, to sterilize all tattooing tools before starting any permanent cosmetics session.
Practicing safe sanitation is the best way to become successful in permanent cosmetics.
