School history

From the beginning of its history, Colorado Technical University has focused on supplying their students with industry-relevant technological degrees. Opening its doors in 1965 as the Colorado Electronic Training Center, the school was originally located in a building formerly used as a roller rink. The school now boasts two traditional campuses, CTU Colorado Springs and CTU Aurora, as well as a robust online degree program.

The Colorado Electronic Training center became Colorado Technical College and adapted its curricula to meet the needs of the local aerospace and military based economy throughout the 1970s. Anticipating the impact technology would have across a broad range of industries, the school planned their curricula to continue producing highly-skilled graduates. Upon offering their first doctoral degree programs in 1995, the school again changed its name to Colorado Technical University. CTU was a pioneer in online education, offering its first online bachelor's degree programs during the 2003-04 school year.
