Central Coast College was founded with the mission to provide students with a holistic education that emphasizes career training. The college strives to give students specific job skills while also emphasizing professionalism, self-esteem, and responsible work habits.

Central Coast College was founded in 1983 with just one business program--Typing and Data Processing. Over the last 25 years, Central Coast College has expanded to create additional diploma programs that offer students a variety of opportunities to train for careers in healthcare or business. The college strives to give all students individualized instruction that leaves them with a high level of knowledge and confidence in their chosen field.

Central Coast College is a small college that provides career-focused training in the healthcare and business fields.  As a student at Central Coast College, you enjoy small class sizes that enhance your education by ensuring you have opportunities for hands-on training and personalized instruction in your chosen field.  Central Coast College offers both daytime and evening classes on a year-round schedule to help you complete your training quickly and begin your career.

The faculty at Central Coast College have an average of 20 years of experience in their fields, combining a commitment to teaching with professional knowledge they pass on  to you. Many of the programs offer externship opportunities that allow you to apply your skills in a supervised, professional setting. Your externship provides valuable experience to include on your resume, and some students are even offered jobs at the end of their externships.

Central Coast College adheres to high standards of learning to ensure that students gain the knowledge they need to enter the work force in their field.  The college works to maintain relationships with local employers who have come to recognize that Central Coast College graduates are well-trained professionals. In addition to job placement services for employers, Central Coast College offers custom training in specific skills to area employers on campus or at the business' office.

Diploma Programs at Central Coast College

Central Coast College offers programs in healthcare and business, including:

  • Medical Assisting
  • Medical Billing/Coding
  • Pharmacy Technician
  • Medical Administrative Assistant
  • Computer Specialist Accounting
  • Computer Office Administration

The diploma programs range in length from 18 to 48 weeks.  New programs start every 4 to 6 weeks, giving you the ability to start your program on your schedule.  Central Coast College also offers single courses or customized training on an individual basis.

A career advisor will assist you in determining your academic needs and interests, helping you to choose the diploma program that most closely matches your expectations, desires, and interests. Eligible students can also receive help in identifying and applying for financial aid.

In addition to providing all graduates with career placement assistance, the Career Services Department helps interested students find work while in school. Through a combination of internship programs and Federal Work Study positions both on and off campus, you can gain real-world work experience while completing your diploma.
