Career Options in Web Development.
If you've created your own personal site, or helped friends and family members create their own websites, you might enjoy studying web design or becoming a web developer. Web designers or web development professionals are responsible for day-to-day website design and site creation. If you're into animation and illustration, you may enjoy majoring in interactive media where you create interactive content for websites as well as video and computer games.

Getting Started
In the interactive media, web development and web design fields, employers are looking for people who have a formal college education. Some jobs require an associate's degree; others require a bachelor's degree. In all cases, you will typically study design principles and receive training in how to utilize cutting-edge web design and computer-based design and illustration software.

Student Profile

Jeremy Wilmott: Studying Web design online.

grayhorizontal.gif

"In the past decade or so, the women's magazines have taken to running home-handyperson articles suggesting that women can learn to fix things just as well as men.
These articles are apparently based on the ludicrous assumption that men know how to fix things, when in fact all they know how to do is look at things in a certain squinty-eyed manner, which they learned in Wood Shop;
eventually, when enough things in the home are broken, they take a job requiring them to transfer to another home."
