Not only does Fairfax County offer great choices when it comes to your education, it's also a great place to pursue career opportunities after graduation. Six Fortune 500 companies and more than 4,600 technology companies are located in Fairfax County. The large technology firm Accenture, for example, heads its government contracting arm in Reston, where they build sophisticated homeland security-related technology that advances America's national security efforts. Living in and completing a Reston-area degree program, can open up innumerable opportunities both inside and outside the federal government throughout the D.C. metro area.
Reston is also known for providing a great environment for raising a family. It's a planned community, with a town center and several community centers that offer classes to both children and seniors. Reston's landscape is filled with grassy knolls and patches of forest that surround housing for new families, single students, and established residents.
Reston also made CNN Money's 2006 list of the top 100 best places to live. Part of that may be for its vast and varied career and education opportunities. In 1999, the median annual household income was $80,018 and the median home value was $238,700 in 2000.
