The Dallas metropolitan area, known as the Silicon Prairie or the Telecom Corridor, is a leader in the telecommunications and computer technology industries. With a metro area population of 5.7 million, Dallas (1.2 million), Fort Worth (585,000), and Arlington (359,000) also play major roles in the Texas farming and ranching industries.
