As a journalist your primary job is to research, collect information, and communicate it in writing, speech, electronic, or visual media. Those with communications degrees focus on the basics of human language and how it's used to communicate ideas and thoughts. Communications majors often go into public relations, speech writing, advertising, and copy writing, as well as broadcasting.
