If you have ever watched CSI, the hot T.V. show highlighting the work of a crime scene technician, then you know that work in criminal justice can be very exciting. While the work in crime scenes and forensic science are highly embellished for entertainment, work in criminal justice can be extremely gratifying as you assist in bringing evidence to light and help law enforcement do their jobs as well. You can receive your crime scene technician certification and become a part of this fascinating field in just one year. As a technician, you will learn to:
  • Use forensic science to collect evidence
  • Document the scene of the crime
  • Piece together theories of what happened

Training
As a crime scene technician, you play a vital role in bringing information forward so that the administration of justice can occur. During your training you will learn photography, DNA sampling, and fingerprinting that are useful forms of evidence in forensic science. You will also investigate break-ins or domestic disputes, working as team with law enforcement officials. Administration of justice, the field of study devoted to dealing with law enforcement as well as the judicial system, gives you the opportunity to help provide criminal justice.
