If you choose to go into promotion or advertising, you will frequently participate in extensive research and product development to ensure the success of your marketing techniques. Whether your interest lies in direct sales, such as retail, or behind the scenes creativity such as advertising ideas, experience and often a degree are preferred for advancement or promotion.

Educational Requirements
As a sales and marketing student in a campus-based program, you'll take classes in buyer behavior, marketing research, and communication. For jobs in marketing or sales, creative college graduates are often the first ones to snag a position. Advancement in many advertising or promotions firm often happens from within, so experience is also a key component.
