ARTICLE: North Olmsted In-Depth
North Olmsted, Ohio is located on the western edge of Cuyahoga County, about 12 miles southwest of Cleveland. The town also enjoys close proximity to Erie Lake, one of the five Great Lakes.

With a population of 33,481, North Olmsted maintains a small-town feel without sacrificing the conveniences of urban life, thanks to its proximity to the greater metropolitan area of Cleveland. The town benefits from numerous recreational facilities, including a recreation center with two ice-skating rinks, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, indoor tennis, and a jogging track.

North Olmsted's cost of living is slightly higher than the U.S. average, by 1%. The median home cost in North Olmsted is $185,200 and the median household income is $53,034.

North Olmsted was incorporated as a city in 1960, and until the 1980s the city remained primarily residential, with little industry. While future job growth over the next 10 years is predicted to be slow, the town enjoys the economic benefits of Cleveland, a leader in polymer production, engineering, and biotechnology.

In fact, Cleveland has the largest concentration of polymer companies in the US, and more than 168 engineering companies are located in the Cleveland metro area. Moreover, Cleveland's research base for the biotechnology and biomedical industry has tripled in recent years, from $50 million to $150 million.
