ARTICLE: North Brunswick In-Depth
North Brunswick, New Jersey is one of many townships located in Middlesex County. In 2004, Middlesex County had 783,665 residents, making it the third largest county in New Jersey. North Brunswick is about 35 miles southwest of New York City, and is considered part of the larger New York and Northern New Jersey metropolitan area.

The township of North Brunswick has a population of 49,803, offering residents a small-town feel while still letting them enjoy the urban life of the greater New York metropolitan area. Like much of northern New Jersey and Middlesex County, North Brunswick is an incredibly diverse area that benefits from its citizens' various cultural and religious backgrounds. The township is also enjoys an above-average median household income of $61,325.

The character of North Brunswick is changing fast, however, and its ability to maintain a small-town identity will depend a great deal on managing the suburban sprawl that much of Northern New Jersey is facing while trying to preserve its historic spaces. North Brunswick's local economy is made up of a diverse range of industries, including chemical manufacturing, professional and educational services, and health and medical services.

In the coming years, North Brunswick will need to maintain its diverse local economy. The economic success of the community will depend on the township's many educational institutions and their ability to prepare residents for a range of industries including business, marketing, healthcare, and technology.
