The city of Springfield, Missouri is the third largest in the state. With a population of 139,600, Springfield is known as "The Cultural Center of the Ozarks," and features an art museum and performing arts center. The median family income is $41,028, according to 2005 U.S. Census data.

Unemployment in the area has been below 4.5% for over 10 years, and Springfield's work force has grown more than 16% in that time. In 2004, Springfield accounted for more than a third of Missouri's total job growth.
