ARTICLE: Weston In-Depth
Regarded as one of the wealthiest cities in the country, Weston, Florida is an extremely active community with almost 64,000 residents. It also hosts the fastest-growing job sector in Florida (18th nationwide). Located in Broward County (population 1.6 million), Weston boasts a relatively high Latino/Hispanic population that accounts for 30% of all residents.

Local highlights in Weston include an ancient burial mound left by the Tequesta Native Americans more than 800 years ago. As a commuter city, its population numbers vary by almost 20% depending on time of day. The median salary of Weston residents is an impressive $35,000 per capita, and over $80,000 per household.

The Broward County School Board is currently the largest employer in the region, although the health care industry thrives in Weston, FL thanks to Las Olas OB/GYN at Sawgrass (5,000 employees) and other medical facilities.

Due to Weston's relative affluence and emphasis on education, it should be no surprise that skilled labor and white-collar jobs constitute a sizable portion of the workforce in this city. As the housing market becomes even more competitive, it is quite possible that Weston will become a popular vacation destination for wealthy families during winter seasons up north. However, for the time being, Weston, FL will remain a hip suburb that offers entertainment, parks, and recreation to the many inhabitants who call this city home.
