ARTICLE: Temple Terrace In-Depth
Located in the north-central region of Hillsboro County (population 1.1 million), Temple Terrace, Florida is a bustling small town that is home to roughly 20,000 residents. Named after its terraced landscape and orange groves, Temple Terrace is only a stone's throw away from Tampa and Plant City, FL.

With nearly 90% of all adults over the age of 25 holding high school diplomas, and 40% holding a bachelor's degree or higher, Temple Terrace, FL is an intellectual city that provides access to more than nine colleges and universities in the surrounding metropolitan area. Education, health, and social services represent nearly 25% of the economy. Per capita income for Temple Terrace, FL is approximately $26,000 a year ($56,000 a year per family).

Due to its small size, Temple Terrace has avoided large-scale land development in recent years. However, city leaders are already in the process of building up a downtown economic center to attract more businesses. Only 4% of the daily population represents commuters from outside of the area, and Temple Terrace city officials would like to attract more business dollars on a regular basis.

Currently, tourism and services contribute greatly to the overall economy, but the local government is the largest employer in the region. However, as neighboring Tampa Bay becomes an even stronger player in the vacation industry, it is likely that tourism and related industries will eventually become the mainstay of Temple Terrace, FL. When this takes place, city officials will have realized their goal of making Temple Terrace, FL a "City for Living."
