A district in the beautiful San Fernando Valley, Van Nuys, CA is located in the greater City of Los Angeles. With a population of about 100,000, Van Nuys is the county seat for the Valley and well known for its long streets of car dealerships. A large majority of Van Nuys residents hail from Mexico and Central America. Van Nuys boasts the busiest general aviation airport in the world. Residents enjoy such cultural and environmental sites as Universal Studios, the Japanese Garden, the Sepulveda Dam, Balboa Park, Hansen Dam, and Busch Gardens theme park. The Van Nuys' Historic District project of 2002 increased the value of the area several times over and preserved invaluable monuments and buildings in Van Nuys. Due to its location in the San Fernando Valley, Van Nuys enjoys the influence of commerce and manufacturing of this region. Major businesses in the area include: NBC-Universal The Walt Disney Company Warner Brothers Lockheed Rocketdyne The retail industry got a shot in the arm when a major manufacturing plant for Chevrolet was dismantled and converted into a shopping mall called The Plant. This action created a host of new jobs for residents and an increase in business revenues for the city.
