Rancho Cordova, California is in Sacramento County, only 13 miles from the state capital. Named after Cordova Vineyards, Rancho Cordova was incorporated as a city just a few years ago, in 2003. Its history, however, dates back to the days of the Gold Rush and the Pony Express. Mather Field, a military training facility closed in the late '80s, has been developed as a civilian airfield and business park. Situated on the American River, Rancho Cordova enjoys a warm climate. The population is approximately 56,000, with a median household income of $48,000 and an average home cost of $295,000. The top five industries in Rancho Cordova are: Education Health Social Services Professional Housing The brand-new city is already expanding, with plans in place to annex a part of unincorporated Sacramento County. Rancho Cordova's bond rating has gone up to A-, reflecting the city's growing population and steadily increasing financial reserves.
