Oxnard, California was originally a sugar beet factory. When the Southern Pacific Railroad constructed a spur near the factory to ship the beets, a town quickly sprang up.

Oxnard, situated along the Pacific Coastline in Ventura County, is 60 miles northwest of Los Angeles and 35 miles south of Santa Barbara. With an average temperature of 73 degrees, Oxnard boasts some of the richest agricultural land in California. Strawberries, which grow virtually year-round, are the most valuable crop in Oxnard, which will host the 24th Annual California Strawberry Festival this year. Influential in '80s punk rock, it also has a prominent musical scene.
