A study by Applied Development Economics in 2006 estimated the average annual income of a household in Cerritos to be $87,700. The city's per capita income is $25,249.
Industrial and retail trades dominate Cerritos's economy. Residents also commute frequently to Los Angeles, where they can partake in the nation's largest manufacturing hub, steel fabrication, fashion apparel, or the finance and banking industry.
