Adult education has moved beyond adult literacy and remedial education and into boardrooms and corporate offices. Adult education includes career schools, which can benefit anyone. Executives can learn the latest technologies while office managers can enhance basic computer skills.

As well as learning new skills and new technologies, adult education can involve learning problem solving skills, interpersonal relations, and information management. Classes range from a few hours to semester-long coursework and take place in corporate offices or school facilities.

Adult education is a promising field to enter. The market is expected to increase 34 percent by 2012, according the U.S. Department of Labor Occupational Outlook handbook. There's no certification for people teaching in adult education, but most states require an advanced degree. No educational program can promise jobs or guarantee salary, but Adult Literacy, Remedial Education, and GED Teachers and Instructors made a median salary of $36,240 in 2004.
