Many of Skokie's top employers came as recently as 1999, which means that Skokie has been successful in terms of generating employment opportunities.
The village is poised to add more jobs in the health science sector. Forest City Enterprise purchased the former Pfizer pharmaceutical property for $43 million, which included one million square feet of research and office space across nine buildings. The new Illinois Technology Innovation Campus will create more than 3,000 on-site jobs in bioscience and technology, 10,000 ripple-effect jobs, and 1,000 construction jobs.
