North Aurora, IL Career Education and Training: Browse Accredited Schools

Published: November, 2010

North Aurora, IL is a small village in Kane County with a population of 10,585, according to the 2000 US Census. When German immigrant John Peter Schneider established a mill on the Fox River, North Aurora was first known as 'Schneider's Mill' or 'Schneider's Crossing.' Although the residents of North Aurora share much with their neighboring cities, they have a robust economy that successfully supports all of the city's services.

North Aurora has managed to establish itself as a relatively affluent city with a per capita income of $25,552 (higher than the national average). Manufacturing industries, retail, trade, hospitality, and food are the leading employment sectors. Oberweis Dairy (maker of ice cream products) is the top employer, followed closely by Aurora Pump and Dart Container Inc.

DACO Inc. is one of many companies in the state of Illinois receiving a government grant from DECO (the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity) to train its staff in computers, ISO 9000 procedures, advanced programming, tool handling, and operation of robotics. North Aurora has an educated labor force, with almost 88% of the population holding a high school diploma or higher. North Aurora is keen to have new businesses and offers flexible land and loan facilities. However, it is too soon to tell how effective their large-scale business development initiatives are.
