Early settlers to Gurnee, IL came by horseback and 'Prairie Schooners' in the early 1800s. Situated on the banks of the Des Plaines River, this village has a population of 28,834 of which 94.1% have high school degree or higher. Gurnee is located about 40 miles outside Chicago and it includes the areas of Park City, Grandwood Park, and Wordsworth. Gurnee is famous for its theme park, Six Flags Great America, and also has a popular water park called Hurricane Harbor.
