Question

I am a 55-year-old banker, retiring in August of this year. I would like to work from home on my computer, so that I will have ample time for my family. What sort of options should I consider?

Thanks and regards,

Anand K. Swarup

Answer

Dear Anand:

First of all, congratulations on your impending retirement. I believe if you check out the various job boards online, you'll find opportunities to work as a contractor from your home office. As an added resource, you might also sign on with a headhunting or contracting agency that works with companies looking for employees on a contract basis. If you've been banking your whole career, you've got a lot to offer, so put yourself out there and help people find you. Also, don't forget to network--tell all your friends, family and business acquaintances that you'll be contracting after your retirement, and see if they have any leads for you.

Good luck to you,

Richard
