How to Find a Job

Hi Julia,

I have been searching for a job for the last year with no success. Please guide me on how to have a successful resume.

Gladys
From Kenya

Answer:
Dear Gladys,

Searching for a job can be a long process, so I'm glad you're sticking with it. The first step I would recommend is taking a look at the job descriptions for the companies and positions you are interested in. Pay close attention to the required skills and job duties. Now, take a look at your resume. Do you list the experience you have that relates to the job postings? For example, if you are applying for a job that lists a requirement of "2 years experience handling cash in a retail environment," your resume should clearly state that experience.

Second, tell your network of friends and family that you are looking for a job. You might know someone who has a position open at their company, and that just might be the connection you need.

Best of luck, Gladys!
Julia
