Founded on Strong Values

Alvernia College has a rich heritage that contributes to its strong values. The college was founded by the Bernadine Sisters, a Catholic religious order. The Franciscan core values of service, humility, collegiality, contemplation, and peacemaking continue to guide all of Alvernia College's activities.

Students at Alvernia College are encouraged to become active participants in society. Service is a large component to the Alvernia College experience. More than 50 degree programs are offered at Alvernia College, giving you a variety of options to help you achieve your goals. The four-year liberal arts degree programs all incorporate a strong educational core that gives you a broad and diverse education. Alvernia College's program offerings include degree programs in:

Liberal arts degrees range from programs in the sciences to arts to education and everything in between. If none of the traditional degree programs fits your unique needs, you can create your own degree program with a faculty advisor. With an Advanced Professional Studies major, you can mix disciplines in order to design a study program that perfectly matches your personal, professional, and educational goals. Alvernia College offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees.

The Alvernia College Experience

There is a strong sense of community on the Alvernia College campus. The college's small class sizes (usually no more than 20 students) facilitate interaction and discussion. Instructors can give individualized attention to each student because of the small student-to-faculty ratio. More than two-thirds of the professors at Alvernia College hold the highest degree offered in their field of study.
