WorldWideLearn.com Offers Inspiration to Adult Students Going Back to School
With an increased need in the workplace for continuing education, more adult students are returning to college to complete their bachelor's or graduate degree. A new resource is available to students who find difficulty in adjusting to academic demands. WorldWideLearn.com's educational inspiration section encourages students in their pursuits through sharing personal stories.

(PRWeb) - September 11, 2006 -- WorldWideLearn.com launched a new section of inspirational education stories to support students transitioning back to school. The number of adults returning to college is growing as people seek to stay competitive in the workplace and earn more income. Students now have a common place to share triumphs and struggles at WorldWideLearn.com and help themselves stay motivated to succeed in their studies (http://www.worldwidelearn.com/education-inspiration/home.php).

The financial benefits of completing a bachelor or graduate degree program are significant, as shown by a U.S. Census Bureau report. The bureau states that average earnings are $74,602 with an advanced degree; $51,206 with a bachelor's degree; $27,915 with a high school diploma; and $18,734 without a diploma. An estimated 37 percent of all college students in 2006 will be over 25, and 56 percent of these older students will attend school part-time.

Visitors can share their own education stories to the site and can email specific stories to themselves or to someone who may need a dose of inspiration as they go back to school. One visitor to the site confessed how he came to be a second-round, non-traditional college student, "I can't believe I am going to admit this, but I actually failed out of school. I went to one of the most notorious party schools in the country. I attended every kegger...until my grades were so low they threw me out." He continues to explain, "So, I am taking advantage of what they call 'academic fresh start'--meaning it's been long enough since I flunked out that I am allowed to go back to school!" Other stories include educational challenges and successes, advice, and stories about powerful out-of-classroom learning experiences.

According to WorldWideLearn.com's managing producer, Steven Jones, "Job advancement and financial security are the largest motivating factors for adults returning to college," and he also acknowledges that the commitment to stay in a degree program can sometimes be an issue for returning adult college students. Competing demands from work and family commitments can dissuade many people, and the inspirational section is intended to help overcome some of those concerns.
