Celebrities Can Be Good Education Role Models for Prospective Students
Celebrities in our society influence everything from fashion to fad diets to political activism. They also can serve as good education role models for people who are contemplating earning a degree. WorldWideLearn.com (http://www.WorldWideLearn.com) offers some examples of celebrity education paths that resulted in fame and fortune.

(PRWeb) - January 2, 2007-- For many students, celebrities who completed their college degrees are good education role models who just may be the push they need to continue their schooling. An article on WorldWideLearn.com, the world's premier online directory of education, offers a look at celebrity education and how it led to fame and fortune.

The WorldWideLearn.com article "The Rich and Famous and the Degrees That Got Them There: Six Degrees of Education" shows that earning a college degree is a solid foundation for future success (http://www.worldwidelearn.com/education-advisor/indepth/six-degrees-of-education.php). The article offers role model inspiration stories about celebrities by describing the education and accomplishments of diverse people such as Nobel Prize winning physicist Richard Feynman, who received a Ph.D. from Princeton; Howard Stern, who graduated from Boston University; and Tom Brokaw, who earned a bachelor's degree in political science after transferring schools.

"A role model is a person who, through their own actions and advice, helps others reach their fullest potential," writes M.L. Carr, president and CEO of Warm2Kids.com, which aims to inspire teens and young adults to make positive life decisions. "A role model refuses to stand on the sidelines, and does not become numb by the possibility of defeat.”

People who've already been in the workforce and are thinking about returning to school may be helped by the role model inspiration story of "Desperate Housewives" star Marcia Cross, who left her role on the popular TV show "Melrose Place" to earn a master's degree in psychology.

"The Rich and Famous and the Degrees That Got Them There: Six Degrees of Education" also shows that even though a person can earn a degree in one area, they may ultimately find success following a different career path. For instance, Tom Anderson earned a bachelor's degree in rhetoric and English and a master's in criticism, but not having a technical degree didn't stop him from co-creating the wildly popular social networking Web site MySpace.com.

WorldWideLearn.com is the world's premier online directory of education, featuring informative resources, more than 2,500 online courses, over 1,600 online degree programs, 200 online universities, and 2,300 campus-based career college programs. WorldWideLearn.com receives thousands of visitors each day and has been featured on MSMoney.com.
