E-Learning Earns "Two Thumbs Up"

Diane Ellis
Executive Administrative Assistant, Marketing
Florence, Kentucky

Goal: To earn an MBA or Paralegal Certification

Diane Ellis has always loved to learn. With today's modern technology, she has discovered a convenient, new way to indulge this love--it's called e-learning, and it's all done from her computer over the Internet. Since catching the e-learning bug in 1999, Diane has taken three e-learning courses - 'Writing Children's Books,' 'How the Brain Works' and 'Microsoft® Access.' And her plans are getting bigger-- next, she hopes to pursue a specialized paralegal program or maybe an MBA.

"I have a very busy life with my work and my family, and could never be locked into a restrictive class schedule," says Diane. "Besides, I love the fact that when I take an online course, I get to interact with people from all over the world. It is absolutely fascinating, and a wonderful opportunity to grow and learn. I'm glad that I found WorldWideLearn-- they feature all of the resources I need to pursue my love of learning."

For those considering e-learning, Diane gives it two thumbs up. "It's the only way to go for older students," explains Diane. "We can't just put our lives and responsibilities on hold while we further our education. WorldWideLearn makes it easy to find the courses we want that fit perfectly around a hectic schedule."

Online Programs Offer Caliber AND Convenience

Trish Flanders BSN, RN, C
Information Technology Educator/Registered Nurse
Kalamazoo, Michigan

Goal: To earn an MS in Education

Trish Flanders is an accomplished professional as an Information Technology Educator at Borgess Health Alliance, where she employs her nursing and education background to construct and deliver instructor-led and online staff education. She is always looking to achieve more and has taken many software courses online, including e-Learning, PowerPoint, nursing continuing education and Dreamweaver.

Trish is extremely happy with the e-learning format, especially since she can learn at her own pace on her own time. Recently, she took her e-learning experience a step further. After searching the WorldWideLearn e-learning directory, she enrolled in Capella University's online program to earn her Master of Science in Education. After just one class, she became convinced of both the caliber and convenience of Capella's online program.

"Before signing up for an e-learning course, I would recommend that students do a lot of looking and research to find the best class and program for them," says Trish. "WorldWideLearn is a great tool for accomplishing this, because it's a centralized directory with terrific breadth and depth. There is so much available on the Internet today, and it's great to have a resource like WorldWideLearn to help you make an informed decision about your education goals."

Trish also has some tips for prospective e-learners. "To help with the costs, check with your employers to see if they are willing to reimburse part or all of the tuition fees," explains Trish. "And don't forget to look for any grants and scholarships, outside of work too."
